Time to get outta Dodge!

It all started in April of this year when the stable where I boarded my horse told me that she was selling her farm. What would I do? where would I board my horse? oh I know I thought – we’ll buy a farm!!!

After having grown up/worked on and hung out and around horses most of my life – should be easy.
We immediately started looking at properties – 2 to be exact!! The first one – nice house – nice acreage – a little far out of the city but that’s ok  – we’ll commute. We himmed and hawed and NAH – let’s keep looking.
We stumbled upon a listing in the real estate directory for a farm a good 35 minutes from our current home. What the heck!! – let’s make an appointment to go see it.
No sooner had we pulled in the driveway we both said – “we are buying this house!!”
Built in 1832 – stone house with 15.83 acres of mixed pasture and bush – 3 barns – crooked floors and glorious peace. We were hooked.
We put in our offer not thinking they would accept it – and BAM – offer accepted – house inspection – septic inspection – financing – good to go….but WAIT – our house was not even on the market.
FREAK OUT!!! – pull out of the deal. Heart breaks.
Frantically working around the clock while holding a full time job – and spending every cent we had with painters – contractors – home stagers – and therapists (yes it was that stressful) oh yes and stocks in wine companies – we had our home ready for market in less than two weeks.
Would it sell – our home of 8 years with it’s dated kitchen and old carpets???
1 showing – 2 showings – 3 showings – 4 – we have an offer – for exactly what we wanted – nay what we needed in order to make our dream come true.
But will our dream home still be in the market???
Stay tuned!
