Well…it officially happened today – I am faced with my worst nightmare – the snow.
Now normally – I quite enjoy the colder season – it’s crisp and clean – no allergies to contend with – the cooler temp better for the inevitable hot flashes that I have been experiencing.
I found it quite unsettling today- wondering – Oh Lord- what have I done?
I was super excited to see that Trigger – after the rains this weekend was dry and I could put his blanket back on in anticipation of the crappy weather of tonight.
New coveralls on (thank you to my mother in law) with flash light in hand – I traipsed out to the paddock – rushing to get the “dance of the 1100 lbs beasties” done. Grain – check – hay ready for the morning check – feed the brats – check – hmmm – should check on the kittens – oh ya somebody dumped a litter of kittens on our doorstep – I’ll get to that later this week.
So – I am in the toasty hay storage barn – trying to entice little fur balls within arm shot so I can pet one- just one!!! – and I hear the wind pick up and the sound of “rain” on the tin roof. I do love that sound!!! This sounded slightly louder – ahhh well – it will stop soon. It did not stop it just go louder – “later kittens” I said – rushing out to get that blanket on the “old man”!!!
Son of a….too late – a nice layer of snow has settled across his back so now he is wet….again…he does not seem to care – he has food and a thick coat.
Needless to say the tiny ice darts pummelling my face as I trudge back to the house were pleasant. I am all about exfoliating – but gently please.
Winter – I fear – is upon us.
Take heed – I won’t complain often – just a little when it gets particularly blustery and I promise it will be amusing.
I do have sparkly new coveralls that are super warm and water resistant to keep me dry and cozy- now I just have to get that damn horse to do the same so I can put his “coveralls” back on!!!
